SALA 2024 – great to be back at DogRidge Winery
Opening 2 – 4 pm Sunday 4th August, 129 Bagshaws Rd McLaren Flat. There will be wine, platters and a fire pit. This year I am exhibiting multi-media drawings of coloured pencil, graphite pencil and ink. Semi-abstract landscapes with overlapping forms, contrasting bright colours with tonal stripes in subtle shades of grey. A new direction for me after many years of working in pastels.
I am having an exhibition in the South Australian Living Artists Festival at DogRidge Winery at McLaren Flat. It is called Conversations with Trees and opens at 2pm Sunday 30th July and runs until September 3rd. The setting is lovely – my pastel of a huge river red gum and vines is right next to their cellar door. Click this link to see all the works in the exhibition << Conversations with Trees Gallery >> this will be updated it gets closer to the opening.
The opening yesterday went very well and since then a steady stream of people have been coming through. The exhibition is open for a further 2 weekends, until 5pm Sunday 28th August.
I am having an exhibition called Cathedrals of Light, for the South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA) in August. The opening is 3pm Saturday 13 August. I have made 12 pastel paintings on black paper each reflecting a different aspect of the sacred in nature. They are in the Cathedrals gallery.
After many many years of painting with primarily pastels, I have taken up a multi-media collage approach, using impasto medium, acid-free tissue paper, ink, watercolour, acrylics and yes, still using pastels, though not in all works. Go to the New Multimedia gallery and you will see what I’ve been up to.
Hello! My solo exhibition, Travel Light, features roads, tracks, paths and journeys. The opening event is 1.30 to 3.30 pm on Saturday April 7th, at 171 Sturt St Adelaide (city), which is Adelaide South West Community Centre. There will be wine, cheese and friendly company, plus an artist’s talk at 2pm.
The exhibition will be showing from Tuesday 3rd April to Thursday 26th April, 9 – 5, Monday to Friday. Other than at the opening, weekend visits can also be arranged by contacting me. It will be great to see you there.
Urban Cow has moved to their new location, near the entrance to the Palace Cinemas, just off Rundle Street. They are having an exhibition called “Nest”; the opening is 5.30 to 7.30 pm Wednesday July 5th to celebrate their move and I have 3 paintings in it. It should be excellent fun and I hope to see you there!
I have three paintings, including the one shown, in a SALA exhibition which opens on Saturday 29th August from 3 to 5 pm at the Adelaide Central School of Art, 7 Mulberry Road, Glenside. Go in the front entrance to Glenside Hospital and turn right at the Film Corp, then park in car park C.
My new exhibition, Light + Time, is being hung at Womens and Childrens Hospital on Wednesday 15th April, and will be up until the end of June. To see it, go to the main entrance and then on the left there is a long corridor with windows on one side, and paintings on the other. The exhibition takes people on a journey from really transient events, through longer and longer timescales, ending up in deep time.
The SALA exhibition went really well. Whilst it was on I went on an artist’s week at Arkaroola organised by Peter Maklin and friends, which was really excellent. At home, it has been a warm, dry spring and the bearded irises have flowered beautifully.
